Frequently Asked Questions

Classroom Study Scene

When do parents typically reach out for educational consulting or advocacy?

Parents often reach out at specific decision points: when a child is newly diagnosed and a 504, IEP, or learning plan is being considered for the first time; when communication between home and school has broken down; or when what a parent believes their child needs no longer aligns with what the school is offering.  Others seek support when a major transition is approaching — third grade, middle school, high school, or college — or when supports are in place but progress has stalled.

What if support is already in place, but my child still isn’t progressing?

This is one of the most common reasons families reach out.  When plans exist but outcomes aren’t improving, it’s often helpful to step back, review the full picture, and look closely at how supports are being implemented and experienced.  I help families analyze what may be misaligned, missing, or no longer appropriate — so decisions are grounded in data and evidence.

Do you only support students attending public school?

I work with families across public, independent, and parochial school settings. Having served as an educator and administrator within each of these landscapes, I understand the distinct structures, expectations, and decision-making processes that shape how learning support is identified and implemented in different school environments.

How can you help when the system feels confusing or overwhelming?

504 and IEP processes involve specific language, timelines, and legal considerations that are not intuitive.  I work with families to interpret documentation, clarify what language matters, and prepare for conversations with school teams so advocacy is informed, focused, and aligned with your child’s needs.

When families reach these moments, having an experienced educational consultant and advocate to think alongside them can make the process clearer and more effective. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Consulting for Tailored Support & Strategies

Educational consulting and advocacy are inherently individualized, shaped by each child’s profile and how learning unfolds in context. My work may include reviewing and analyzing assessments, IEPs, 504 Plans, and learning plans, as well as conducting observations to better understand how supports are experienced in real time. From there, accommodations, interventions, and strategies are thoughtfully designed to make learning more accessible and aligned. I have a broad and deep understanding of the full range of developmental needs, along with experience navigating both public and independent school landscapes.
